Located in the Kashanak neighborhood of Tehran, this residence is a complete reimagining of a 1978 apartment originally built by the client’s father. Designed for a Los Angeles–based dentist returning to his roots, the project transforms a dark, compartmentalized three-bedroom layout into a bright and contemporary two-bedroom home defined by openness, warmth, and restraint.
A full gut renovation allowed for a new architectural clarity: walls were removed, proportions recalibrated, and a custom skylight structure was introduced to dissolve the previously claustrophobic loft and flood the central living areas with natural light. The palette—soft plaster walls, pale woods, minimal stone surfaces, and clean-lined millwork—creates a serene and quietly luxurious environment, while built-ins and concealed storage maintain spatial purity.
Throughout the home, the design balances minimalism with livability: a sculptural kitchen anchored by warm materials, a seamless ensuite carved in neutral tones, and carefully framed architectural views that extend the sense of volume. The result is a refined, contemporary retreat that honors the building’s legacy while offering a new, elevated way of living in one of Tehran’s most storied neighborhoods.
