Sacco Alato Lounge Charis

A compelling blend of sculpture and seating, this limited-edition piece (edition of 25) by Roberto Matta elevates the everyday into the extraordinary. Cast in bronze and finished with polyurethane foam covered in chenille velvet, it measures W 125 cm × D 80 cm × H 67 cm (W 49.2″ × D 31.5″ × H 26.4″) and weighs approximately 60 kg (132 lb).

Originally conceived under the “Ultramobile” concept devised by Dino Gavina in 1971 to transform surrealist objects into functional furniture, Sacco Alato was born in the foundry during the casting of “Margarita” — a concrete bag split in two, with raw road-rocks serving as its feet.

More than a chair, it is a conversation piece: each bronze cast bears the artist’s signature and an engraved ID number, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Meticulously crafted and steeped in art-historical significance, itmakes a striking statement in a living room, gallery, or curated collection.
